About the ACCT
The Association of Community Complementary Therapists (ACCT) developed from a group who worked together during the Foot and Mouth crisis and after the floods in Cumbria. During these times of great stress, we offered practical support to local people through holistic treatments (complementary therapy sessions).
We have now been operating as a registered charity (Charity No. 1116115) managed by Trustess since 2006, working towards our goal of providing affordable therapy treatments in a healthy living/wellbeing centre for the people of Carlisle.
Ultimately, we believe complementary therapies should be available free to all, but our current short-term objective is to offer reduced cost treatments (£15) to those who would otherwise be unable to access them, subsidised by general clients who pay a market rate for the service (£25).
Our concessionary rate is available to people on benefits and low incomes and people affected by the Jan 2005 flooding, as well as members of local voluntary and self-help groups. We are also keen to offer treatments to carers, to help support them in their often demanding role.
What People have said about the Therapy Centre
We have been collecting information from people who have used our service and their feedback about our service has been overwhelmingly positive.
Other Activities
We have a lending library containing a range of books and magazines relating to health, healing and complementary therapies, plus some items of general interest. You are welcome to borrow materials for a small donation.
We can offer a flexible package of staff training for local organisations, including taster treatment sessions and educational workshops relating to health, stress management and holistic therapies. Please contact our team to discuss your requirements.
