Our Volunteers
Volunteers have always played a key part in The Therapy Centre and their help is invaluable in keeping our service running smoothly. Many individuals have kindly given time and energy to support the work of our team of therapists and we were once again glad to recognise their contribution and commitment with award presentations organised by the Cumbria Council for Voluntary Services at Morton Community Centre in June 2008 and at the Tithe Barn in June 2009.

If you are able to spare time to volunteer at the Centre, we would love to have you on board. No special skills or experience are required, just willingness to make people visiting the Centre feel welcome. If you have an interest in complementary therapies and holistic health, your ideas and suggestions would also be appreciated.
Maggie Logan - volunteer secretary
A few words from Maggie (left): "Having followed a varied and interesting career path from civil servant to entertainment agent to territory sales manager and latterly area service manager for a leading weight loss company, I have once again changed direction in volunteering to help the ACCT as secretary. Knowing very little about complementary and alternative therapies, I look forward to the challenge and to working with a dedicated group of therapists and trustees."
Helen Fisher - volunteer treasurer
Helen Fisher (left) was officially appointed and welcomed by the committee as treasurer and trustee at the Trustees meeting on Thursday 11 August 2011. Helen says “I work in the public sector and am always interested in new projects.I came across your vacancy for a volunteer treasurer in the CVS newsletter. As I’ve recently completed some book keeping courses, it seemed the perfect opportunity to give something back to the community and at the same time, gain more experience for myself!”

Norma Renucci (right) is a regular volunteer at the Greystone Community Centre on Mondays. She first came to the Therapy Centre after she was flooded and had to leave her home. Six years later she is a welcoming face for our clients.
Another of our valued volunteers, Joyce Armstrong (left) started her working life at age 12 cleaning wedding cars and hearses. She is a director of her family's engineering business and was the office manager until recently.
She brings her organisational skills to ACCT and is a trustee and volunteer. She coordinates the booking of appointments - not an easy task!
Do get in touch to find out more if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.
